What is special about Panhou Retreat?
Unlike other resorts in Hoang Su Phi which have the view of terraced fields or layers of clouds, Panhou Retreat will bring visitors a completely different image of Ha Giang.

We celebrate local culture by integrating cultural imprints into the retreat’s design. Moreover, inside the retreat, we built a museum displaying national costumes, honoring the cultural and historical beauty of the ethnic minorities in Hoang Su Phi.

We love and care for our people, with fair employment policies and tourism activities that benefit the local community. In fact, 100% of the people working here are locals from nearby villages!

Of Panhou Retreat
Spirit of a Legend
Panhou is derived from the name of Ban Ho – a God sent from heaven to help Binh Vuong King protect our land and the Dzao people from invaders.
After the victory, Ban Ho was granted marriage to the King’s daughter and became the next King (Ban Vuong King). Together, they had 12 children (6 boys & 6 girls), and their children became the ancestors of today’s 12 branches of the Dzao people.
Ban Vuong King is known for his rustic lifestyle and devotion to his people. He greatly contributed to laying the foundation and nourishing the Dzao culture.
Today, Panhou Retreat continues the King’s legacy by preserving nature, honoring local culture, and supporting the local economy.

Home is where our heart is!
For many of these smiling faces, Panhou is their second family. It’s not just a workplace, it’s our home. And we’d love to welcome you into our home as a dear friend!
Our “people” are not just those who work in the retreat, but also the people who live around us. You might meet a little kid on their way to school, dreaming of one day joining our team. Or you might chat with a proud mom who talks about her son working at Panhou. We’re all connected, and we hope you’ll feel that connection when visiting us!
Mr.Hon
When you arrive at Panhou, get ready to be greeted by the friendly smile of Mr. Hon, or as we like to call him, “Uncle Hon”. He’s our gatekeeper and his top priority is to make sure that your stay at our retreat is just as comfortable and secure as being at home.
Mrs.Chinh
We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Chinh as a part of the Panhou family for more than 8 years now. She does an amazing job of keeping the walkways in the retreat always clean, no matter the weather. To describe her, there’s no better word than “dedication”.
But what’s truly inspiring is that her dedication to Panhou also runs in the family. Her daughter-in-law works alongside her in the kitchen, making our delicious meals with love and care.
Mr. Truong
Truong is like an older brother to us in the F&B team. He’s got a quite unique perspective on Panhou. To him, it’s more than just a job – it’s a meeting place where he feels close to home and still learns so much about the world through the people he meets. Truong hasn’t had the chance to travel much yet, but that’s okay because he gets to hear from and connect with people from all over the world right here at Panhou, and that’s what he enjoys most about his job.
Mr. Duc
Let us tell you about Duc, one of the amazing members of our housekeeping team who joined us in 2017. He’s the one who always makes sure that your room is absolutely spotless and that you have a peaceful and comfortable night’s sleep.
But that’s not all there is to Duc! When he’s off duty, he takes on the role of an older brother in his family, taking care of the household chores or working on the farm. He’s a truly reliable and responsible person, both at work and at home.
For Duc, the true joy of working here is when he sees our guests happy and satisfied with their stay. It’s this kind of dedication and commitment that makes him such a valuable member of our team, and we’re lucky to have him on board!
Ms. May
This is May – our wonderful little Dao sister with a big dream!
She’s been working at Panhou for over a year now and has gained so much self-confidence, which has helped her communicate better in English. We recently asked her about her favorite spot at the retreat, and she excitedly whispered, “It’s the view of the pond in front of bungalow number 5. It looks just like a rice terrace, which reminds me of the beautiful view from my home.”

Phung Village
The Location
“From Ha Giang city, you can hire a motorbike or private car to Tan Quang, where you can explore a “mystic road” which takes about 3 hours to reach Vinh Quang town, Hoang Su Phi district. On the way, when you come to km17, you can take a turn to Thong Nguyen, where Panhou Retreat located.
This Mystic Road is delicate and winding like a silk strip, but it is also steed and majestic. After a quite long journey, visitors will be able to admire the same message of picturesque terraced fields or hundred-year-old Shan Tuyet tea hills.
From here, you can also try to hunt clouds in Ban Phung. Clouds in Phung village are not as dense as in Mu Cang Chai or Ta Xua, but are very poetic. Phung village also does not have a wide valley like Muong Hoa of Sa Pa, but the terraced fields here are located on a steep slope – relating to the living habits of La Chi residents from about 800 years ago…
