Panhou Retreat is located in Hoang Su Phi – a highland district situated in the west of Ha Giang with majestic rice terraces of over 400 years. This place is recognized as a National Natural Heritage and is home to 12 branches of the Dzao tribe in Vietnam.
Our 09-seat D-car departs daily from Hanoi Opera House to Panhou Retreat and vice versa.
We've put together a list of great hiking days for you to enjoy during your stay at Panhou Village. Each trek begins at 9 am and wraps up in the afternoon, usually between 3 and 4 pm. Lunch is also included in our services, so you won't have to worry about bringing your own.
Our local guides are members of minority groups in the Song Chay Mountains and they'll be leading the hikes. Just a heads up, our guides only speak Vietnamese.
The walking durations and elevation changes noted in our documents are approximate. We want to make sure that you're comfortable with the routes we choose, so we can adjust them according to your expectations and ability. Let us know if you have any special requests or preferences.

Hike to Yen Son Village (L)
Your hike is going to start at 9 am after a delicious breakfast. At the beginning of the walk, you will have the chance to pass through a village of Yao people. These lovely people wear long tunics and have settled their houses on pillars on the mountainside. You will also have the opportunity to walk through breathtaking rice fields in terraces and bamboo forests.
During the hike, the group will take a break at a Red Dao House. The family there is eager to welcome you with a cup of local tea. You can either rest while waiting for lunch or join your local guide in preparing the meal.
In the afternoon, the walk will continue to a Tay village in the valley. The group will then follow the river to return to Panhou Village.

Pan Hou - Nậm Khòa - Pan Hou (L)
The bird songs who have found refuge in the gardens of Pan Hou Village adds to the calm of this place in the heart of the Song Chay mountains. After breakfast, you will depart by foot to the nearby mountain. The day walk begins his assension and the passage of a neck Promite. The landscape widened to more distant mountains which seem to be moving towards the undulations of feeders terraced slopes.
You arrive in a village of Red Dao. The women wear a bright red dress and a shiny brocade and cultivate medicinal plants which are used to cure muscle pain, arthritis, flu, or just relax …After having lunch, your walk continue throught the rice terraces, the reliefs and the tea plantations, then towards a village of Yaos with long tunic and Pan Hou Village.

You have the opportunity before your hike day to enjoy your breakfast at the Pan Hou Village restaurant and if you got up early to discover the gardens of the eco lodge managed by the tays gardeners.
You leave with your local guide at 9am to explore the nearby mountains through tropical forests and rice terraces.
You stop in a village of the Red Dao for lunch. By necessity, they have sculpted the mountain and its rivers to grow rice, the main food of their meal. These painful adjustments enable them to live in the heights and, by the way, offer you unique landscapes to contemplate. The cooler climate and fresh water in abundance also contribute to the growth of lush tea trees.
You keep walking in the afternoon through manioc fields, bamboo forests, tea plantations, then a village of Yao with Long tunic and finally Pan Hou.
